"Residents of mid-town were treated to a sight of rare fantastic beauty the other evening. Dusk had deepened into the early purple light at dinner hour when a blimp appeared out of nowhere and floated back and forth, like a big silvery porpoise, through the brilliant flash of a searchlight. Meanwhile another searchlight was trained on the needle spire of the Chrysler Building, providing at the same time a landmark and a warning of the sharp point around which the gleaming bag was circling."
